California navel oranges are being packed every day. The fruit is peaking on 88s, then 113s, followed by 72s. The pack outs are averaging 65% Fancy, 35% Choice. The fruit is eating well. The market is steady on 72s and larger, with some pressure on price on 88s and smaller. The fruit is typical, meaning there is some light green tinge with a mostly light orange to orange colored rind surface. Gas times are down to 72 hours or less to color fruit. The varieties being packed now are Becks and Fukumotos. The market is expected to remain fairly steady on 72s and larger, with some decrease on the 88s. Currently there is promotable volume available on 88s and 113s, both Fancy and Choice grade. Size 56s and larger on both Fancy and Choice are very limited. In addition to navel oranges, California Grapefruit, Satsuma Mandarins, Clementines, Pummelos, Oro Blanco Grapefruits and Fairchild Tangerines are available.
